Sassoferrato was apprenticed to his father, Tarquinio Salvi. Sassoferrato's work was held in high regard. His paintings were believed to be contemporary with the School of Raphael. There are over three hundred works by Sassoferrato in public exhibition spaces throughout the world including in the British Royal Collection at Windsor Castle.
