THE ROSE WINDOW IN THE NORTH TRANSEPT About the Artwork: The Rose Window in the North Transept is located in the Cathedral of Our Lady of Chartres, in Chartres France and was created c.1235. It was a gift from the French Queen Blanche, of Castile. The stained glass depicts the Virgin Mary and Child seated at the center with haloed doves and angels holding candlesticks on the surrounding circular panels and crowned figures on the diamond-shaped panels.
